Alice Collection: Children's Books
The Alice Collection is a special non-circulating collection that brings together the best in children's books, criticism on children's literature, resources for storytelling, biographical information on children's authors and illustrators, and works of historical value in the field of children's literature. Please call the White Plains Public Library ahead to inquire about usage and availability of this very special collection.

American Circus Collection: Books About the Circus
In 1808, Hachaliah Bailey began entertaining Somers residents with the antics of his trained elephants, Ol' Bet, Li'l Bet, and Columbus. His elephant circus became so popular that Mr. Bailey constructed the Elephant Hotel, which now serves as the town's municipal government center. Somers Library has a small collection of 44 fiction and non-fiction circus books. Please call the library at 914-232-5717 for more information.

Federal Government Documents
The Mount Vernon Public Library is a partial depository of U.S. federal documents available for public use. Access is provided to federal documents in a wide range of subject areas, with emphasis on education, health, social sciences, law, economics, business, government and the U.S. Census. Although the majority of documents are on paper and micro-fiche, some are available on CD-ROM and online.

Fishing Collection: How To's, References and Fish Tales!
The Katonah Village Library has books and videos on fishing donated by the Croton Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The books include titles on fly-tying, reading water, fishing for specific kinds of fish and personal narratives by well-known fishermen.

Yonkers Riverfront Library
The Foundation Center in Manhattan supports access to comprehensive information about grant opportunities and corporate giving at the Yonkers Riverfront Library and the White Plains Public Library.

Helen Whitman Collection: Herbs, Horticulture and Gardens
The Helen Whitman Collection at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library contains approximately 75 volumes devoted to the subjects of herbs, horticulture and garden design. Included are classics by Gertrude Jekyll, early 20th centure treatises on American gardens and the encyclopedic "Herball" by John Gerarde.

John C. Jutkowitz Memorial Theatre Arts Collection
The collection at the Yonkers Public Library - Grinton I. Will Branch was established in 1975 to perpetuate the memory of the son of a Yonkers Public Library trustee who had been deeply interested in the performing arts. Jutkowitz funds support the purchase of books on theater history, stagecraft and acting; piano-vocal scores for Broadway shows; dramatized plays on cassette and CD; collections of monologues and scenes for actors.

The Learning Center
The Learning Center is a collection of books, DVDs, cds and periodicals dealing with topics about how people learn, or what affects learning. This collection, at the Chappaqua Library, includes such topics as: Dyslexia, Autism, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Bipolar, Asperger's, ADHD and much, much more.

Marjorie Gibbs Collection: For Parents and Teachers About Down Syndrome
The collection held at the Field Library has a wealth of materials to support parents and teachers of children with Down Syndrome and other special needs. The collection includes books, periodicals and audiovisual materials providing information on meeting the physical, psychological and developmental needs of children from infants through young adults.

Michael Jasper Gioia Collection: Children's Books
Hastings-on-Hudson Public Library holds the collection which features children's books, written and illustrated by Hastings authors and artists.

Mills Law Collection: NYS and Federal Laws (Westlaw)
Mount Vernon Public Library holds an extensive collection of law books covering New York State and federal law. The collection also includes the Westlaw online legal research service providing access to a vast collection of statutes, case law materials, public records and other legal resources.

New York Government Documents
The Mount Vernon Public Library is a full depository of New York State Government documents, one of only four in the New York metropolitan region. Most of the documents are on micro-fiche, but others are on paper and CD-ROM.

Percy Grainger Collection: Pianist and Composer
White Plains Public Library holds the collection of Percy Grainger (1882-1962), an Australian-born pianist and composer, who resided in White Plains for many years. He was best known for his folk song settings based on English, Scottish and Irish folk music. Also renowned as an interpreter of the compositions of Edvard Grieg. The Grainger Collection consists primarily of facsimile copies of 140 of his compositions, as well as some of the arrangements, transcriptions, paraphrases and editions of other composers' music.

Railroads Collection: The History of the Railroad
This collection held at the Croton Free Library contains predominantly the history of the railroad in America, including several atlases, some folklore, and a few titles on model railroading. Most titles are out of print and a few are by local authors. The collection numbers approximately 250 volumes.
